We’ve been in a holiday mood since the latest décor started arriving weeks ago, but we’ve refrained from sharing until Thanksgiving was officially in the rearview. We want to respect the holiday purists, after all. Now, with the turkey and trimmings in leftover containers, we’re all about trimming the tree! We have four tips that will leave your home looking like it’s straight out of a Hallmark movie.
Holiday Decorating Tip #1: Go Green
This year, we’re all about going green with both the color and lots of greenery! From garlands and wreaths to the star of the show, your tree, this is the year to bring the outdoors in with plenty greenery. Add extra touches to your table liner, your sofa table, and anywhere that seems like it could use a little something extra.
Enhance the ambiance with décor in rich shades of green. You’ll feel a sense of calm as you add green to your scene.
Tip: Try adding sprigs of greenery to a statement vase for an eye-catching entryway.
Holiday Decorating Tip #2: Brighten Up the Bedrooms
Don’t limit your decorating to the main living areas of the home. The bedroom halls are just begging to be decked. Whether you hang wreaths above the beds or add trees, the bedrooms are a fun canvas!
Make it Memorable
One of our clients shared a tradition we can’t resist to pay forward. It’s such a sweet idea! She puts smaller trees in each of her kids’ bedrooms and gives them each a new ornament on Thanksgiving that they can add to the tree. She has a special box for each child to store their ornaments in. By the time they’re ready to leave home, they’ll have a lovely collection of sentimental pieces to take with them.
Holiday Decorating Tip #3: Welcome Warmth
With shorter days and soooo much nighttime, this tip is crucial – weave warm lighting into your decorating. This can be with candles, faux candles, and even an added lamp or two and warm bulbs. It may be dark and cold outside, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be merry and bright within.
Holiday Decorating Tip #4: Mix in Metallics
You know what goes great with green? Metallics! Add some extra sparkle with touches of gold, silver, copper, and other must-have metals!
Don’t Forget the Gifts
The Black Goose Design is known for our home furnishings and design services, but did you know we also carry a vibrant assortment of smaller décor pieces. You’ll find hostess gifts, surprises for your neighbors, thoughtful ideas for neighbors and teachers, the must-have Secret Santa gift, and so much more. Stop by and make a definite dent in your gift-giving list.
We realize Thanksgiving is behind us, but we still want to pause for a moment of gratitude. We love our clients and customers so much. Thank you for being a part of our community. Here’s to a safe and happy holiday season ahead. Cheers!
